Valentine's Day

In February, flower freight activity peaks, with 13,850 tons of flowers shipped in just four weeks.

Cut flowers, mainly roses (80%), arrive in Liège from all over the world before heading to the Netherlands or on to other countries.

These shipments are subject to numerous inspections by the Afsca.

Swissport's New Refrigerated Cargo Center

In the summer of 2025, Swissport opened a new refrigerated facility for perishable goods, particularly cut flowers. This warehouse has a capacity of 40 unit load devices (ULDs)—equivalent to a full aircraft’s load—and maintains the cold chain at temperatures between 2 °C and 8 °C.

The company has three other airside cold storage facilities: one at a maximum of 3 °C (for fish), one between 2 and 8 °C (pharmaceutical-certified), and one between 15 and 25 °C.

Swissport Liege handles 400,000 tons of cargo per year.
